The Psychologist provides comprehensive assessment and intervention services to children/youth who exhibit behavioural, emotional, developmental, mental health concerns, and other outstanding problems in functioning. The work involves the delivery of services through psychological assessments and consultation. The Psychologist complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
· 2 – 4 years’ Experience working with children/youth population and concurrent psychiatric disorders - required
· Provides psychological assessments including; the study of cognitive, personality and environmental functions depending on client need.
· Formulates relevant recommendations and treatment plans within the context of the interprofessional team.
· Engages in clinical liaison with other agencies, community schools, and other professionals.
· Responsible for the completion of all relevant reports in accordance with established standards (e.g. progress notes, assessment reports).
· Fulfills other duties as assigned to ensure that services are being provided in an efficient and effective manner.
· Participates in staff in-service training and consultation with other staff.
· Seeks out supervision and consultation as needed to provide effective services to assigned youth/children and families.
· Assessment of group dynamic and facilitation skills for group therapy
· Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health Act, PHIPA, Healthcare Consent Act
· Creative, resourcefulness and ability to take initiative
· Knowledge of issues involving childhood trauma
· Service specific training including Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery
· Strong therapeutic and assessment skills, including the ability to work well with other professionals and community agencies
· French Language proficiency is an asset

Education and/or Certification:
· A Ph.D. in Psychology - Required
· License to practice in Ontario as a Psychologist or is eligible to become licensed in Ontario
